A heat pump transfers thermal energy from a gaseous or liquid medium of low temperature to a medium at a higher temperature by inverting the natural thermal flow which normally operates from hot to cold. This is useful for providing air conditioning in summer and hot water and heating in winter - all from the same setup. The gas-fuelled absorption heat pump (GAHP) is different from tradiional electric heat pumps. Instead of using premium electric energy it uses town gas or LPG to heat and compress the medium.
